Software Engineer · Product Systems (Protor & Indago)
We build the engines; you build what people see. Applications, interfaces, APIs and reusable components on top of Protor and Indago, turning two working systems into products customers use every day.
80–100 % · Berlin Reuterkiez or remote · Flexible hoursWhat you do
- Start at the problem: what is the user actually trying to achieve, which parts of Protor or Indago matter, and which ten percent of the platform create ninety percent of the value.
- Build the product: a complete Indago application for a market, a Protor-based analytics product, a new interface, a workflow, a service or an integration, on top of substantial existing infrastructure.
- Recognise when a product-specific solution should become a shared building block (UI system, Control Plane, endpoint daemon) that every product reuses.
- Learn 1.5 million lines of code from the outside in, starting with bounded areas: applications, APIs, services, UI components and concrete workflows.
- Spot opportunities yourself: an existing engine capability that solves a customer problem before anybody writes a ticket for it.
What you bring
- Strong C# / .NET; depending on the product also Swift, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, web technologies and our own APIs and controls. You do not need to know every platform.
- You understand software as a system and judge architecture, side effects and when a locally convenient solution damages the system globally.
- Fluency with AI-assisted and agentic development, which is normal here.
- You think abstractly and still care about finishing things; you appreciate architecture without treating abstraction as an end in itself.
- You see a product through the eyes of a user without losing sight of what happens underneath.
- Ambition, and the habit of taking responsibility early, deciding, and surfacing problems early.
What we offer
- Protor (114 connectors, its own workflow language VXL, more than 500 runnable workflows) and Indago (291 source connectors, 289 analysis and scan tasks, six standalone applications) as a working foundation.
- Direct work with the founder, very close to product and architecture; you decide which products emerge from Protor and Indago and how they are built.
- Real ownership: we work through hard problems together, and when you take an area, you move it forward.
- Flexible hours, remote work, at least one shared day a week in our Reuterkiez office (two in the first three months where possible).
- Start: immediately.
Apply
No LeetCode, whiteboard puzzles or artificial algorithm exercises. Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, GitHub if you have one, and one or two things you have actually built: the problem, your decisions and what you would do differently today. Then pick Protor or Indago and describe a product you would build on it; a sketch or a few paragraphs are enough. Applications from disabled and neurodivergent people are explicitly welcome; tell us if you need particular working conditions. Applications close 30 September 2026. Apply to hello@vectorio.io.
